Tenera: simplifying a technical narrative so their ICP gets it in one read

The challenge

Tenera had a powerful product story but a difficult first sentence. The platform uses behavioral data to simulate how people respond to product changes, predict outcomes, and recommend what to do next. Leading with “simulation” raised trust questions before buyers understood the value.

How we approached it

We explored five positioning bets, from AI simulation for product teams to AI A/B testing and UX testing. Each came with a trade-off: speak to the few already shopping for simulation, or reach more product teams through a job they already recognize.

“Concept testing” sounded like research. “Predict business outcomes” felt abstract. Testing product bets won: broad enough to cover pricing, features, UX, and strategy, with simulation as the method rather than the headline.

The shift

The story moved from “here is an AI simulation tool” to “here is a better way to test a product bet,” with speed at the center: test a bet in less than a day.

Three arguments sit underneath: personas built from real user behavior rather than surveys, experiments run against those personas, and recommendations tied to conversion, retention, and revenue.

The homepage, before and after

Same technology, different first sentence. The page now opens with the job a product manager already has, and explains simulation as how Tenera does it.

Before

The earlier Tenera homepage, headlined “Predict how users react before you ship,” above the line “the first AI simulations for product teams.”
Simulation leads: “the first AI simulations for product teams.” The buyer has to accept the method before they can judge the value.

After

The new Tenera homepage, headlined “The fastest way to test every product bet.”
The job leads: “The fastest way to test every product bet,” with pricing, product concepts, onboarding flows, and UX designs named as the bets, and simulation explained underneath.

What changed, and why it matters

  1. BeforeLead with AI simulation

AfterLead with testing product bets, with simulation as the method

Buyers judge the value before they judge the technology.

  2. Before“Concept testing”

AfterLanguage product managers use, anchored in concrete use cases

It reads as a product decision, not a research project.

  3. BeforeUnderstanding business impact

AfterQuantifying it through conversion, retention, and revenue

A promise a buyer can check.

  4. BeforeTechnical data language

AfterHigher-level terms: personas, user data, user interactions

Anyone on the buying team can follow it.

This engagement produced a positioning direction and messaging framework. The homepage above is Tenera’s own execution of that direction, and commercial results aren’t measured here.
